It was my great privilege to have my 2022 album Inhale recorded and mixed by JB Arthur. I have deeply admired and looked up to JB through my entire musical career and never thought I would have the honour of having him lavish brilliance on my work. The album was quirky, with unusual demands, but his open mindedness coupled with an awareness and sensitivity to the poly-genre nature of the project was beyond compare.

JB is a fantastic collaborator. I wanted an authentic South African choir and JB produced the sessions for me remotely. I literally handed over the files and he handed back final recordings recorded and edited. No fuss, utterly professional, always with a ‘can do attitude’ . The end results were beautiful and stunning. I can’t wait to work with JB again.

Joseph is an amazing engineer/producer, also a great film composer. I am always amazed at the pace that he is able to create the perfect themes for a film. A super creative and professional musician with years of experience. You just feel it when you work with him.

In a 30 year career to date as a music executive I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with JB Arthur. Growing the independent music scene we worked together on a number of critically acclaimed projects from around 2002, to more recently on SA music legend Vusi Mahlasela’s new release Umoya, 21 years later! JB is my go to, regular composer not because we have developed a language to express mood and tone, which we have, but because each of nearly twenty scores has been different and exciting. Some have helped us win Emmy Awards and all have been wonderful collaborations. I look forward to the next.
